Christopher Griffiths, MD, FRCP, FRCPath, is Foundation Professor of Dermatology and Associate Dean for Research, Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, University of Manchester.
Education and academic achievments: he received his BSc (1st Class Hons) MB and BS degrees from St Thomas' Hospital Medical School , London University and his MD also from London University .
He trained in dermatology at St Mary's Hospital, London and the University of Michigan where he was on faculty in the department of dermatology.
He introduced a multidisciplinary clinic for severe psoriasis - the Manchester Psoriasis Service - awarded Hospital Doctor Dermatology Team of the Year Award 2002.
He has received many awards and honours; named lectureships at national and international meetings include Dowling Oration 1998, St John's Oration 2003, Sydney Watson Smith 2006 and Parkes-Weber 2007.
He is a past President of the British Association of Dermatologists and a past Chairman of the British Society for Investigative Dermatology.
He is on the editorial boards of 8 scientific journals, including Associate Editor of the Journal of Investigative Dermatology; author of 360 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and 150 articles in non-peer reviewed journals and is a co-editor of the premier international textbook of dermatology - Rook's Textbook of Dermatology.
His research includes immunological mechanisms of psoriasis, where he has been instrumental in development of the new biologics, immunotherapy (including the new biological agents), the "brain-skin axis" and mechanisms and repair of skin ageing, particularly topical retinoids.

Prof. Günter Burg, MD, PhD
Education and academic achievements:
Günter Burg received his training in medicine and dermatology in Germany and was appointed professor and chairman of the departments of Dermatology of the University in Würzburg/Germany 1988-1991 and in Zürich 1991-2006.
He has been vice-dean and dean respectively of the Faculty of Medicine in Zürich 1998-2004.
He has organized the harmonization of the learning objectives for Dermatology in the Swiss Catalogue of Learning Objectives and is the principle editor of DOIT, Dermatology Online with Interactive Technology, a Swiss Virtual Campus project (#991017).
